Curtain Tie Backs & Holdbacks: How to Choose the Right Style
Curtain tie backs and holdbacks are one of the most overlooked finishing touches in a well-dressed room. The right style can frame a window beautifully while complementing your existing hardware and architecture.
Types of Curtain Tie Backs
Floral & Decorative — Our brass floral tie backs are among our most popular styles, featuring ornate petal and leaf designs that suit Victorian, Colonial, and French country interiors.
Baroque & Rope Style — Bold and sculptural, baroque holdbacks make a statement on heavier drapes. Rope pattern styles pair well with Georgian and Classical architecture.
Simple Button Style — Clean and understated, button tie backs work in Craftsman, Mid-Century Modern, and transitional interiors without competing with other hardware.
What Material Should You Choose?
Polished Brass — Bright and traditional, pairs well with warm wood tones and classic interiors.
Antique Brass — A warmer, aged look that suits Victorian and Colonial homes perfectly.
Oil-Rubbed Bronze — Darker and more rustic, works well in Craftsman and Arts & Crafts interiors.
Unlacquered Brass — Will patina naturally over time, popular in historic home restorations.
How to Install Curtain Tie Backs
Tie backs are typically mounted 4 to 6 inches from the window frame at roughly one-third up from the bottom of the curtain. Use the included hardware to mount directly into a stud or use a wall anchor for drywall installation.
